The Good News is that we are Winning at Achieving a Hunger Free World.

Not only is it true that a hunger free world is totally attainable, we are, right now in fact, gaining on it and well on the winning side of achieving it. Today, about 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes. This is down from 35,000 ten years ago, and 41,000 twenty years ago. Three-fourths of the deaths are children under the age of five. Today 10% of children in developing countries die before the age of five. This is down from 28% fifty years ago. All of this despite the increase in world population during this time.

What Will It Take to Completely Eliminate World Hunger?

In a one word answer - us. To break the inherited cycle of world poverty and bring our human population into balance with our world's economic, educational and social resources, it will take us addressing the extreme maldistribution of access to food resources now. There is enough excess food available, we can easily afford it, and the mechanics are in place to deliver it where it is needed. What is needed is for us to "get it". In other words for us to fully realize just how much the food we provide has the power to end the old legacy of worldwide inherited poverty, by enabling education, heatlh, opportunity, jobs and more. And then, all that remains is our effort to get organized around that realization. Never before in the history of our planet could it happen better or faster than now, through the power of the Internet.

Eliminating World Hunger Forever: The World Food Program

WFP is the front-line agency of the United Nations and the largest food program in the world. It is the receiving hand of your World Legacy click donations. WFP's Mission is to provide:

FOOD FOR LIFE to sustain victims of man-made and natural disasters;

FOOD FOR GROWTH to improve the nutrition and quality of life of the most vulnerable people at critical times in their lives;
